Things to Know About Invisalign
I’m Dr. Aaron Crossley, and as a board-certified orthodontist, I consider Invisalign an excellent treatment option when it matches the patient’s goals and clinical needs.
Clear aligner therapy has advanced significantly over the years and Invisalign digital planning software and tools allow careful design of tooth movements, root positioning, and bite correction before the first tray is even printed! The key here is proper diagnosis, clear expectations, and consistent wear by the patient.
Let’s cover more must-know tips and information before you have Invisalign treatment!
A temporary lisp can occur as your mouth adjusts to the trays, and it typically resolves quickly.
Use a case for your aligners during meals so they are not wrapped in napkins or tissue and thrown away by accident.
Consider a small travel brush so you can brush your teeth before reinserting trays when you are on the go.
Minimize sipping coffee, tea, sports drinks, or wine with aligners in. Those beverages can stain trays and your teeth. If you choose to drink them, remove aligners, rinse your mouth with water after, and brush when possible.
Important factors for success are wear time and proper seating of the trays around your teeth. Plan for 20 to 22 hours of daily wear and use chewies to help seat aligners fully on your bite.
